Obsession vs Idolizing

Okay well yesterday I said that it is bad to obsess about celebrities. I still find this to be true. BUT, there is always a grey area. There is a difference between OBSESSION and IDOLIZING.
Obsession is a sort of mindless thing in my opinion. Obsession is looking at someone and spending way too much time trying to be like them, loving them, trying to get into their lives, or having sex with them. The list of things could go on but you get the point. Obsession is negative because it consumes you and can in turn alter the person you are obsessing about.
Idolizing someone is different. I idolize people. I am interested in their inspiration to pursue what ever they are doing (Not every aspect of their personal life) and I would like to meet them (not for an autograph) to just talk to them. These are people who I think are good people and have a good message. NOT people who are beautiful, sexy, skinny, or whatever.
It is good to idolize someone because you can idolize people who you agree with, thus fermenting your opinions. For example, if you are a strong believer of a religion and you idolize (not obsess over) someone who follows that religion you can get inspiration to continue to pursue something you agree with.
Who is your idol?

Buy my face. Sell your face.

Why do we insist on obsessing over celebrities? These people may have talent (although some do not) but they are PEOPLE. What if everyday you left your house some kid was trying to get your autograph or ask you a million questions about your life. How would you like to wake up one morning and go to the store only to see your personal life on a magazine?

Then there is the flip side.

Why do we worship these people? Why must we try and model our lives around people who have sold their personality and become another item for us to consume? They sell their faces for their poisons. Whether it be sex, drugs, or what ever. The message that sends to kids is HORRIBLE.

Lets just take a step back from the magazines and back off of other people lives. Lets model our lives after positive influences and well, ourselves.

Be you, not some celebrity.

Poor kid, before they were famous they were actually human.
